Sophie’s SISTERs
Sophie’s Sisters is a special WCHC program designed to inspire the next generation of young players through community, mentorship, and representation. Each cohort brings together an intimate group of girls ages 8–10 for a memorable hockey experience centered around PWHL defender Sophie Jaques—the first Black player drafted into the league, a Patty Kazmier Award winner and member of the PWHL’s Vancouver Goldeneyes.
The group attends a Vancouver Goldeneyes PWHL game together, cheering on Sophie from the stands and experiencing the excitement of professional women’s hockey as a team. After the game, participants enjoy an exclusive meet-and-greet where they have the chance to ask Sophie questions, learn about her journey, and hear firsthand what it means to pursue your dreams in the sport.
Every participant receives a Sophie’s Sisters tote bag filled with exciting, limited-edition items:
A WCHC Tote Bag
A Sophie’s Sisters graphic T-shirt
A poster for Sophie to sign during the meet-and-greet
A customizable Gatorade water bottle
Sophie’s Sisters creates a moment of joy, connection, and inspiration—helping young girls of colour see themselves in the game and showing them that they belong in every arena they walk into.
